WitrynaProtecting Natural Waters. NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) manages many programs that measure and report on the quality of waters in New York State. We collect and evaluate water quality monitoring data on rivers, streams, lakes, estuaries and coastal waters, and report the water quality assessments to the public. WitrynaAnother general perception of water quality is that of a simple property that tells whether water is polluted or not. In fact, water quality is a complex subject, in part because water is a complex medium intrinsically tied to the ecology, geology, and anthropogenic activities of a region.
