The hedgerow sits upon a field boundary that is believed to pre-date the Parliamentary Enclosure of this area in 1799. It separates two fields that are named on the Enclosure map as Burnett Close and Hoyes Close. WebScopwick Cemetery, 6 miles south of Lincoln, near Digby aerodrome is the final resting place of ‘The Pilot Poet’, John Gillespie Magee, who was killed in a mid-air collision over Lincolnshire on 11th December 1941.
