WebPersonally, I like the CoverflyX service. Sure I've gotten some great comments...and some that were less helpful. But that's a risk you run in general. The feedback is free and there's no rule about submitting again to get another opinion if you don't like this one. WebDuring the Pandemic my best friend from middle school and long time writing partner created a show with Bill Burr, Immoral Compass. He went to bat for me to join the writers room and after a bunch of bullshit, our show premiered last year.

This time I thought I would try to come up with a short list of very simple pieces of craft advice based on the experiences I've accumulated over the course of 16 years pursuing a career in feature screenwriting. WebI remember the first book I read on screenplay writing 15 years ago that flashbacks should be avoided at all costs. I included one in a screenplay I wrote 10 years ago (before I Went on a writing hiatus) and my writing group that I shared it with reminded me that flashbacks were frowned upon.

WebI prefer Coverfly for tracking of accolades, but there are A LOT of festivals/contests that are not on Coverfly. Some competitions automatically transfer your FF submission over to Coverfly (a lot of the major film festivals that do screenplay contests).

Just interested in getting a take on whether it appeals to a more general audience. Do the characters and plot and storylines work regardless of genre?

The token system there really ensures that people get back to you with feedback. There’s a button you can click that says “only people with 3 star rating can read your work”, which seems to weed out the useless readers.
